Calibur X Rivyl
About:
In 2021, Oliver and August could only wonder in disbelief after a massive supermarket chain was brought to its knees by a colossal ransomware attack. The need for unassailable online security was critical. A shift in power dynamics was imminent. So, taking inspiration from Excalibur, the sword of power, Calibur was born.
Change was on the horizon. Users were ready to receive the control over their personal data. Calibur was at the nexus to drive the world towards a decentralized future.
To take full advantage of their position in the market, Calibur approached rivyl to craft a laser-focused brand identity for them.
Brief:
Calibur were on the cusp of innovation and they needed a visual design which stood out from the crowd. A clean look which immediately garnered trust. A distinct identity which separated them from the plethora of other “promising” projects.
We put our research hats on and worked with multiple ideas.
First, we went down the Excalibur road. After some tinkering, we realized that an homage to the future was not what we wanted for a brand that dared to change the future. So we scrapped it.
A few more iterations and here is what we came up with for them…
Result:
We chose a minimal chrome color palette with an electric orange gradient – placing them apart from the expected blue hues that saturate the industry.
We took inspiration from the hexagonal shapes that form the new Calibur logo to give them a futuristic look and to create recurring brand motifs for image overlays, borders, and a distinct visual identity.
Combined with a simple pairing of font weights, the Calibur’s brand messaging and themes took a front seat.
We are proud of the clean and consistent look we’ve created for Calibur. Remember this: If you’re a tech company, you don’t need to be blue.
We chose a minimal chrome color palette with an electric orange gradient - placing them apart from the expected blue hues that saturate the industry.
