Lightning Energy is a specialist solar company for the bold mavericks who want to seize control of their energy independence. To take the power back from those faceless energy corporations asking for handouts 4 times a year. With a transparency ironically lacking in the solar industry and a visionary spirit, Lightning Energy is out here providing customized solar systems for those with the courage to grab independence by the amps and live how they choose to live.
Before they could strike into the world, Lightning needed clarity and a clear-cut direction. They wanted to stand out in a crowded, highly-commoditized market. One where many consumers feel they can get the exact same service for cheaper. Lightning wasn’t about that life. Powered by solar (and copious amounts of the finest artisanal coffee), rivyl had to generate that emotional spark that got Lightning’s audience pumped to join the Solar Revolution. But it wasn’t just about the customers, Lightning wanted to bring that same energy to their company culture, fostering an environment employees were proud to work at. So after taking adequate safety precautions, we got down to business and created a brand identity that volted Lightning above the competition.
Watt? Don’t act shocked. Of course, we smashed it.
Lightning Energy wanted to stand out. To be disruptive and evocative in an industry where everyone looks the same. It had to be bold, confident, and full of conviction. Electrified and excited with the direction, we wove copy around strong foundations of independence and liberation, aimed at those who want to be beholden to no one save themselves (and their partners, maybe their kids. Oh, can’t forget the dog). Inspiring, emotive language was used to galvanize the audience, tapping into the desire to have a real impact – on the bills, the planet, the status quo – and to claim their share of the unending solar supply. We kept this same energy when laying out the foundations of the company culture, developing core values and actionable metrics that aligned with the wider brand and its direction. But dope copy is only half the equation. Lightning Energy needed to look the part. Shock and awe, if you will.
Lightning’s visuals were inspired by the cityscape of urban Melbourne, bold type choices and gritty concrete textures tapping into the feeling of a luxury lifestyle. An energetic touch of neon aqua was used to pop off against the greyscale palette, symbolizing innovation and the future of the solar industry. Add to that a bold gradient line motif for brand imagery to represent the transferral of energy from input to output, and you’ve got a brand that looks striking, distinct, and eye-catching. The colors of the Solar Revolution.
