BRAND HISTORY
Panasonic is a leading Japanese electronics company, we've enhanced people's lives for over a century with innovative consumer products.
The company started in 1918 when Konosuke Matsushita founded Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. in Osaka, Japan. Focused initially on producing bicycle lamps and battery fans, Matsushita quickly expanded into home appliances in 1927 with the release of the first Japanese electric heater. Following WWII, the company emerged as a major electronics manufacturer, producing radios, TVs, and microwaves under the National and Technics brands for international markets.
In 2008, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. officially changed its name to Panasonic, unifying the brand worldwide and carrying on our founder's mission of using technology to create a better life and world. Today, we're proud to continue that legacy by innovating new products like 4K TVs, mirrorless cameras, home appliances, beauty devices, and more for consumers across the globe.
