BRAND HISTORY

Founded in 1980 in Austin, Texas, by John Mackey, Renee Lawson Hardy, Craig Weller and Mark Skiles, Whole Foods has been leading the way in a healthier lifestyle for over 40 years.

The first store opened when SaferWay and Clarksville Natural Grocery joined forces in 1980, and soon enough, the chain rebranded as Whole Foods Market. Since then, its footprint has grown steadily, including over 500 US, Canadian, and UK stores.

Whole Foods sets itself apart by emphasizing quality standards—the store's brand does not contain artificial ingredients. From locally sourced produce to dietary supplement recommendations, Whole Foods provides a personalized experience that caters to a wide range of consumer needs.

But Whole Foods is about more than just providing high-quality products. It's also known for its inviting atmosphere and exceptional customer service. Stores feature amenities like juice bars, coffee shops, and sit-down eating areas, encouraging customers to linger and socialize. The Whole Foods experience is more than just shopping; it's a lifestyle choice promoting health and well-being.
